About Belhar Ext 7 Neighbourhood Watch
We are a volunteer-driven non-profit organization dedicated to fostering a safer, united, and caring community in Cape Town. Formally recognized under the Western Cape neighbourhood watch framework, we turn resident participation into practical action.
Our story and purpose
Belhar Ext 7 NHW was formed out of a shared determination to take ownership of our community's safety and wellbeing. Real safety requires more than waiting for outside help; it begins when neighbors stand together, communicate, and watch out for one another. By joining forces, we build resilience and turn local care into everyday crime prevention.
More than just night patrols
True neighborhood security is sustained through continuous connection. Alongside visible patrols, our initiatives include instant safety alerts via community communication channels, educational safety awareness campaigns, neighborhood clean-up projects, and strong partnerships with SAPS, the City of Cape Town, local schools, and community policing forums.
Our team and volunteers
Our watch is built by residents from all walks of life across Belhar Ext 7. Whether walking patrol routes, sharing emergency information, providing logistical gear, or simply acting as watchful eyes and ears on your street, every resident has an essential role. Together, our voices and vigilance make our streets safer for our families.
"Creating a safer neighborhood requires all of us to stand together, stay alert, and look out for one another. When our community unites, real change happens."
